McPherson High School graduate Matt Stinemetze was selected by the Topeka Capital Journal as a Distinguished Kansan of the Year for 2004. Matt graduated from MHS in 1993 and then attended Wichita State University where he graduated with a degree in aerospace engineering. Matt's recognition by the Topeka Capital Journal is a result of his participation with SpaceShipOne that punched its way through the earth's atmosphere into space above the Mojave Desert on June 21, 2004. Matt was a project engineer responsible for the construction and testing of Spaceship One. |
