| The
McPherson High School Drama program received top honors at last
weekend's State Thespian Conference. For the second year in
a row, McPherson Drama earned recognition as a Gold Honor Troupe,
one of a very few in the state. In order to earn distinction as
a Gold Troupe a drama program must have produced three main stage
plays, a social awareness play and a touring play. As well
as produce plays, a troupe must participate in community service
activities, be involved with new "innovative ideas" for
the drama program, and troupe image boosting activities. A
current and growing thespian troupe and active participation in
state drama activities is also necessary. McPherson Drama
is proud to have successfully completed all requirements.
The
State Thespian Conference was held in Kansas City at Johnson County
Community College. Students auditioned for colleges, attended
theater workshops and saw plays. Those attending the conference
included sponsors Pat Wheeler and Cindy Marion and students Toni
Jantz, Marsha Sterneker, Sarah Ferrell, Kelly Colle, Julie Martinez,
Andrea Nicoll, Austin Curtright, Andy Frisbie, TJ Clements, Jenny
Unruh, Jackie Moore, Ebonee Carter, and Amber Kiekel.
