McPherson High co-track and field coach Mike Reith called it “a feel-good day.”

And no wonder.

The Bullpup girls amassed 12 first-place finishes Thursday to win the annual Freshman-Sophomore Invitational at McPherson Stadium.

“We had a lot of great performances,” Reith said. “The kids competed very well.”

Chelsi Bryant and Lindsey Peterson led the way with three and two individual golds respectively. Coming up with one each were Kylee Williams, Darcie Nelson, Kelsie Sorenson, and Brandi Willems. Three relay teams also won -- the 4 x 100 (Kylee Williams, Willems, Nelson and Bryant), the 4 x 400 (Kylee Williams, Bryant, Cortney Graham and Nelson) and the 4 x 800 (Peterson, Kati Beam, Kristen Reith and Graham).

The MHS boys also had a good day, taking third place. Jack Porter doubled on the day with firsts in the two hurdle events, while Ross Klein won the 400 and Taylor Stevens won the high jump.
