MHS swimmers break relay record

NEWTON -- McPherson High's 200 freestyle relay team broke the school record Saturday in winning that event in the Newton Invitational.

The quartet of Colton Campbell, Luke Buller, Kaleb Warren and Matt Stucky turned in a 1:38.48, which is .01 off a state-qualifying time.

MHS took fourth in the meet with 217 points, trailing Newton (402), Derby (271) and Hutchinson (265). El Dorado (156) and Campus (59) finished behind the Bullpups.

“We had a good meet,” MHS coach Sam Ediger said. “Lots of improved times for everybody.”

It was the last meet before the Christmas break.

100 butterfly -- 2. (tie) Warren and Morrow, 1:02.98. 100 freestyle -- 8. Swanson, 1:00.72. 16. Pavlik, 1:05.78. 24. Cullen, 1:15.59. 26. Gibson, 1:17.53. 27. Nye, 1:19.85. 500 freestyle -- 3.
