Tonight

Will he come tonight?

And will it be on me, that his smile alights?

Will he sweep me off my feet?

Will we flow to the unforced rhythm of the beat?

Tonight?

From Willie the flower in my hair,

From mother the gold earrings that I wear.

From Father a blessing filled with care.

And when he looks into my eyes,

As this evening flies,

Does he see my soul inside?

Will it be with me that he abides?

Tonight?

When the moon rises over head,

Will it end with tears unshed?

Tonight?

But see, he comes! Stretching out his hand

And with it, both hearts land

Tonight.
