“Pride”

The sigh that breaks our silence

Is not one of misery

But despair at the consequence

Of your impassioned fury.

Distressingly impossible

To erase passion’s memory

Unearth the strength concealed in myself

From agony I must break free.

Beyond the reddening sun

Shadows that dance blissfully

Mark this tormenting day is done

And promise morning’s certainty.

When realization to your dismay

Upon sight of my determined stride

Brings you the pain I can’t repay

I have finally regained my pride.

When the moon rises over head,

Will it end with tears unshed?

Tonight?

But see, he comes! Stretching out his hand

And with it, both hearts land

Tonight.
