McPherson High School

Principal's Comments

Welcome to the 2014/15 school year at McPherson High School!  As the year gets underway I am very excited for what lies ahead.  We have some new staff whom I am pleased to welcome:  Heath Gerstner, Emily Book, Andrew Book, Treg Fawl, Brandi McWilliams, Aaron Dibbens, Kayla Sides, Amy Plackemeier and Adam Pracht.  All came highly recommended and have done a great job getting started this year.

Our “test day” will be September 30 (a full schedule will be sent out closer to the date).  On the 30th our seniors will take the ACT, juniors a practice ACT, and freshmen and sophomores will take a new test called Aspire. We will use the data from these assessments to make important decisions about our curriculum and instruction, as well as give students an idea of their readiness as it relates to their goals.

Your students will continue to meet with their College and Career Advocates at least twice during the course of the year.  Please join your student in these meetings.  The information shared by everyone who takes part can make a difference for the student as he/she makes decisions about what the next steps will be after high school.  With our goal of having every student Citizenship, College and Career ready when they leave, attendance at these meetings is very important.

Should you have questions about what we are doing at MHS, or concerns about your student, please feel free to give me a call.  I am proud of what we have accomplished these last 5 years, and look forward to even greater achievements this year.
