Applications are accepted throughout the school year. If no opening exists, the new student's name will be placed on a waiting list. As openings occur, new students may begin at any time during the school year.

Health

Children are required to have a physical exam and up to date immunizations upon enrollment in Head Start. Children without insurance or a medical card will receive these health services free of charge.

Social Services
Parents are given the information about services available in the community. Head Start will then act as an advocate for the family to obtaining needed services.

Education

Children succeed in Head Start by participating in activities which are developmentally appropriate for the individual child.

Children attend either morning or afternoon classes in McPherson. Classes are held Monday through Thursday during the school year.

Children may be eligible for free busing to and from Head Start.

Children who attend the morning session receive breakfast and lunch. Afternoon children receive lunch and a snack. There is no charge for these meals or snack.

Parent Involvement
Parents have the opportunity to serve on committees, attend meetings and help make decisions regarding the Head Start program. Parents are encouraged to serve as classroom volunteers whenever possible, and also to accompany the class on field trips throughout the year.
