the thing that I'd like every parent or Guardian in McPherson to know about the meals that we're offering is that any child aged 1 to 18 is eligible from any Community when they show up and they're going to get 10 meals for free absolutely free uh the meals will be available on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. the decision to move from a daily model to a weekly pickup model this year um is essentially about uh making things more convenient for the community we will go to the high school and go in to the entrance on the North High side and we will have someone working there uh to check each person so that we can account for each child uh and then the vehicle will enter the line the way the menu is looking uh I would have 2 meals that would be heat and eat we'd have a day that's peanut butter and jelly we'd have a day that's a deli sandwich and a day that's kind of a Lunchable um I try to keep the menu with the mindset of maybe your kid goes out to the pool and you want them to be able to take that meal with them to the pool and not have to buy the snacks there or um you want them to go out to the park or they're on their bike all day things like that they can just put that meal in there back and then be able to eat that at the later time and we are very excited to kick off our new summer food program on June 5th instead of in the past where students would have to come on site or at least come to the site every single they to pick up Meals now families with busy schedules can come on Thursdays to make first in high school um and pick up their meals for the entire week it's a convenience issues everyone felt like they needed to be there first so we should have people lining up at 10:00 and we didn't serve until 11:00 and doing this model will make it so that people don't feel like I've got to be first in line like they have a little bit more time 1 of the challenges that that exists when people can't make it a certain days they don't get the food you can plan for the 1 de that we know that we're going to be there and then you don't have to worry about coming another time and you can utilize that during the week as you need to our staff has done an incredible job and and does an incredible job uh during the summer for serving uh the community the 1 thing I really want to highlight is the amount of work that our staff does to to make sure that everybody gets what they want uh and need and we hope that you'll experience uh a great uh Service uh to the community my staff does amazing every day they come in to work with positive attitudes and um even when times are stressful they are they are doing what they love and that says a lot we are so fortunate to be part of the amazing diversity Community I'm incredibly proud of the staff for making this summer boot program a possibilities and we hope you'll join us each Thursday this summer to take advantage of this tremendous this is positive free resource for families
