Student Fees for 2025/26

As the 2025–26 school year approaches, the McPherson Board of Education is sharing details about an updated student fee structure that was approved earlier this year. The revised system is the result of a deliberate and collaborative effort to create a more predictable and equitable experience for families, while continuing to support high-quality classroom resources.

Beginning this fall, a standard Learning Resource Fee will be applied at each school level, replacing previous variable fees with a consistent, flat rate. This change is intended to make back-to-school planning more straightforward for families. In addition, McPherson Middle School and McPherson High School will implement a Technology Fee to support the upkeep of student-issued Chromebooks.

The district is also introducing a new USD 418 Reduced Rate tier, intended for families who may not meet traditional qualifications for reduced-price programs but could still benefit from financial assistance. Those eligible for this tier will pay 75% of the standard fee amount, based on the Kansas State Department of Education’s (KSDE) Child Nutrition and Wellness Income Eligibility Guidelines.

Superintendent Dr. Shiloh Vincent emphasized the district’s commitment to balancing affordability for families with the need to maintain quality educational resources. “Our goal was to create a system that is both fair and sustainable. By simplifying fees and introducing an additional reduced-rate tier, we’re ensuring that all students have access to the resources they need while also making school costs more predictable for families,” Dr. Vincent said.

To qualify for adjusted fees, families must complete the meal benefits application and opt into the program.
