All McPherson Public School buildings will be closed the week of Thanksgiving (11/23-11/27) as staff prepares to transition to remote learning. Remote learning for all buildings will begin the week of 11/30 through the end of the semester. We continue to work closely with our county health leaders, including Dr. Sheila Gorman, medical advisor to McPherson County Health Dept. and Chief of Staff at McPherson Hospital, as we make these decisions to keep our students, staff and our community safe. If you have any questions about a specific student’s needs during this time, please contact the building principal.

when USD 418 grading criteria committee mad the decision was reached that we we as a school system needed to transition to the remote learning model starting next week Monday November 23rd through week we will have a full week where students will not be in session Monday and Tuesday will be used in the first Public Schools as a staff development as to staff development days to prepare for the transition to remote learning and then starting November 3rd which is the first day back from Thanksgiving break all students across star system will be in the remote learning model and that'll continue through the Christmas break as is always the case District administration are amazing in concert attacked with our McPherson County Health officer are the lead medical advisor for the health department just to make sure that we are staying up-to-date on the exact numbers and and the community conditions that existed McPherson Kansas and Crawford County Public Schools have made some difficult decisions about how best to take care of of our students how best to teach them we want them in school as much as possible Right now the virus everywhere in our community it's widespread and it's in all facets it's in businesses if some schools it's in retail areas if it is everywhere as a way of illustrating how this is going up we get updates from our health department three times a week last Monday they were reporting for the three days Saturday Sunday Monday and they reported 71 new cases last week this Monday they reporting three days and they reported 158 cases it's more than double its overwhelming we can prevent infections without going into complete lockdown as long as everybody participates in you have to be you have to be careful old really the committee decided that it was the safest for a broader Community to make sure that that as we transition back from Thanksgiving that we were in a mod but we keep students and staff and families as safe as possible in in continue that model through the week leading up to the Christmas break we understand that there will be some questions that you have is as we start to transition I'm coming back from the thanks break if you have questions related to you know something specifically related to schedule or just questions that you have for you and your student please reach out to your building principal and that they would be happy to help
